How a trade war poses a threat to China’s economy

ALSO THE TRADE DISPUTE LANGUAGE THE CANADIANS WANT TO SEE IN THE AGREEMENT. NEIL, BACK TO YOU. NEIL: EDWARD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. IT IS EITHER A WAR OR TO HEAR JAMIE DIMON TELL IT, MAYBE A SKIRMISH, WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE BATTLE BACK AND FORTH WITH THE CHINESE. THAT IS A BIG ONE WHERE ALL THE MARBLES ARE APPARENTLY ON THE TABLE. MARKET WATCHERS JOHN PAYNE OR JOHN TAMENY. WHAT HE IS SAYING, JOHN, DON’T WORRY, THIS IS NO BIG DEAL, MAYBE ANTICIPATING THERE WILL BE>>LET’S HOPE THERE IS A DEAL. LET’S HOPE THERE IS AN END TO ANY OF THE TRADE TALK HOSTILITY. IT CAN’T BE STRESSED ENOUGH THAT ONLY CLOSED ECONOMY IS THE WORLD ECONOMY. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THAT IN TERMS OF CHINA, THIS IS A HUGE MARKET FOR U.S. PRODUCERS. I SAY IT ALL THE TIME, MOST VALUABLE U.S. COMPANIES IS APPLE, GETS A QUARTER OF REVENUE FROM. SECOND LARGEST MARKET FOR McDONALD’S. TO GO TO WAR, PUT UP BARRIERS FOR CHINA IMPORTS HERE IS TO LIMIT U.S. SALES OVER THERE. NEIL: THE MARKET SEEMS TO BE SAYING BALONEY ON THAT, LATELY, THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE TRADE COOLER HEADS WILL PREVAIL AND A LOT OF THESE TRADE SENSITIVE COMPANIES, LIKE BOEING AND CATERPILLAR ARE BREAKING OUT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?>>YEAH. NO I THINK ABSOLUTELY THE MARKET IS TELLING THE REAL STORY OF THE BOTTOM LINE, ONE THING DISCOUNTED IS THIS HERTZ CHINA SO MUCH MORE THAN THE U.S. AT THE END OF THE DAY CHINA IMPORTS TO US FOUR TIMES WHAT WE EXPORT THAT IS DEFINITELY WHAT THE THIS IS DEFINITELY WHERE THE U.S. HAS THE UPPER HAND. THE MARKET IS GETTING PAST IT. YOU’RE STARTING TO SEE THE DOLLAR WEAKEN A LITTLE BIT. WOULD I ARGUABLY SAY FOR CHINA TWO INVESTORS PASSED IT BECAUSE CHINA BOTTOMED IN THE SHORT TERM AS WELL. NEIL: LET ME FLIP IT AROUND, JOHN. THE OTHER ARGUMENT THIS TAKES A WHILE TO RESOLVE. THAT THE CHINESE WHO MIGHT OFFER CONCESSION, MIGHT NOT OFFER UNTIL WELL INTO THE NEW YEAR. WE COULD LOOK AT HIGHER PRICES FOR LOTS OF STUFF GOING INTO THE HOLIDAY SEASON. THAT WILL TICK OFF A LOT OF CONSUMERS, WHAT DO YOU THINK? SHOULD BE A PRETTY EASY TRANSITION TO WHATEVER COMES AHEAD BUT I WANT TO STRESS AGAIN, WHAT HURTS CHINA HURTS THE UNITED STATES. LET’S NOT FORGET THAT U.S. SHARES ARE PRICED BASED ON THE IDEA THAT THE CHINESE ECONOMY IS GOING TO GROW AND WITH THAT DEMAND WITHIN CHINA FOR U.S. GOODS THAT ARE VERY ASPIRATIONAL THIS, TRUMP IS WINNING. NO, YOU DON’T WIN BY KNOCKING ABOUT THAT TOO, RYAN. WHATEVER VICTORIES ARE ACHIEVED COULD CHINA A SNEAKY WAY STILL STICK IT TO OUR BIG BUSINESSES? MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO EXPAND? MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO ENTER CERTAIN MARKETS IN A WAY IN THE SHORT TERM YOU HAVE TO LOOK WHERE CHINA IS. THEIR ECONOMY IS SLOWING. THEIR EXPORTS ACTUALLY DECREASED FROM JULY TO AUGUST. THOSE $200 BILLION IN GOODS, THAT COULD STRIP AWAY HALF A PERCENT OF GDP FOR CHINA NEXT YEAR. I THINK WE KIND OF HAVE THEM IN A CORNER RIGHT NOW. IN THE LONGER TERM COOLER HEADS WILL PREVAIL. IN THE MEANTIME I THINK U.S. HAS THE UPPER HAND. I DON’T THINK YOU HAVE TO LOOK PAST THAT. ECONOMICS ARE SO CRITICAL. NEIL: JOHN, REGARDLESS WHAT HAPPENS ON TRADE, IS IT YOUR SENSE THIS IS A FAIRLY VALUED MARKET OR GETTING AHEAD OF ITSELF?>>YOU KNOW I THINK MARKETS ARE GENERALLY ALWAYS RIGHT, PRICING IN WHAT THE FUTURE LOOKS LIKE. I THINK RIGHT NOW THEY’RE SAYING WHAT IS GOING ON IN TERMS OF THE TRADE SKIRMISH ISN’T GOING TO BE THAT BIG OF A DEAL. DISCUSSION AT ALL HOW MUCH MORE ADVANCED STOCKS WOULD BE. THE BEST DEAL IS THE ONE THAT EXPOSES THE U.S. COMPANIES TO THE MOST GLOBAL COMPETITION AND FREES THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO PURCHASE AS MUCH AS THEY WANT FROM AROUND THE WORLD. THAT IS THE BEST DEAL. WE’LL WIN BY REDUCING BARRIERS

  1. Typical Chinese way of ripping other countries..give big corporations some advantage and take everything else…good for very few bad for everybody else…don't buy that shit

  2. There could be big reason for the recent bond sell-off — the ongoing trade war. There is some fear the Chinese could weaponize their massive holdings of US debt and use it to gain the upper hand in the escalating tariff battle.

  3. A call to American companies dependent on China trade for profits: We are engaged in a silent revolution vs China for tech and economic preservation. Choose your side NOW or bring down America into a global submission to a Communist rule of world trade. Bring home your technology and manufacturing operations back to America. Temporary gains now will be gone tomorrow!

  4. I like the Chinese people but I cannot stand their tyrannical leaders; thank God, here in America we have the second amendment. #MAGA.

  5. The CCP losing the trade war but their face and ego is very important to their party. I hope Trump raise another Billion so China can go all in.

  6. China can adapt quickly because it's a dictatorship with an emphasis on the collective (Confucianism and partially state owned corporations). Nearly everything in China is designed to be beneficial to the economy with little to no regulations.
America simply can't (and won't) build a factory and build a road or railway that leads to the factory within a month. We're too regulated and the government has no motivation for infrastructure development, even if it is beneficial to corporations.

  7. Surely that is a serious threat but what important is will China stand straight to the end.
I bet China will overcome the trade war.

  8. Over the years, America depend on unlimited printing dollars and borrow money to live and now it blame other countries including Europe?

  9. Well. I guess we have to understand what China actually is. It is a dictatorship, like Nazi. So we need to be very careful in the trade war. Also China never delivered its promises which it made for opening market and economic reforming when entering WTO in 2001.

  10. gosh….can these us financial media be honest? us companies sells more products and services to china than the other way around. china sold 500+ billion dollars worth of products and services to the us. us sold 700+ billion dollars worth of products and services to china. us exports to china are indeed 130 billions. but on top of that 130b, there are another 600b worth of us products and services sold to china via us subsidiaries operating in china. that's why many of your guests keep saying that they are worry about chinese retaliation against us business operating in china. why dont us media be upfront about the fact?

  11. Trade war doesnt benefit anyone. The title of the video could equally be "How a trade war poses a threat to USA's economy"

As the guy in the video said, what hurts China hurts the US too.

  12. China hurts so much more than US because China exports 4 times more? So is that also mean US consumer hurts 4 times more than China? It is simple logic

  13. These people seem to think everything people buy is made in China. The markets aren't concerned because this is only about $170 billion worth of pain to a $20 trillion economy. Get a grip!

  14. All I heard is American talking chinese this Chinese that😂 every other days . They act like they have a crystal ball in front of them.

  15. Under the sanctions from you Yankees, just hope China’s gonna cherish the tuition paid, which took trillions of dollars away and middle classes in China are living from paycheck to paycheck now .just don’t hope China becomes the watch dog like what Japan now is ,so plz follow the international regulations and then more nations will back us up .what I actually mean is ,the isolation given by EU and Japan of this trade war taught us a lot even if they are affected as well ,they ain’t would to buy China for our goodwill …..

  16. So the trade WAR only threat's CHINA's economy …and by that USA is free to go forward and pose's NO threat to them !!!
Yankee's DAY dreaming on it !!!

  17. Who gives a shit about Apple, Mac Donald's, Star bucks, if China does something to these Companies, China would be shooting it's own leg, these companies are providing jobs in China for the Chinese people.

  18. You guys are missing the point, these tarrifs are helping small to medium businesses in the US, it is providing jobs in the US, yeah it will hurt some US companies, hurt them by just making them less rich, they talk about Apple, Mc Donald's and Star bucks, I am pretty sure they will be fine with less income from China. Trump is not here to protect greedy selfish Coporate Giants.

  19. y'all know China is trying to destroy the US and yet you fuckers give China the benefit of a doubt? Pardon my language , i'm just a frustrated Democrat who had enough. I voted for Trump.

  20. Simple math $500 Billion × 6 years= 3 Trillion no trade deal enough is enough bring them factories back blue collar support for Trump all the way America first blacks for Trump 202 landslide

  21. You do not have the upper hand, wake up. China wants and is moving towards having the money base, Russia, I did and many other countries are leaning towards them. Americans are playing a dangerous game, and could lose more then a trade war.

  22. The American thought they are still the biggest spenders in the world? You think you are rich enough to fight the trade war with China? The reason that the Americans like to buy exported goods is because they are cheaper and most Americans can't afford products made in America. Whereas most Chinese today like to buy imported goods because they are better off in their pockets. Don't just take what I said, look into your own bank accounts and your wallet and you will understand. Numbers don't lie.

  23. Like that so many opinion around including my opinion that communist china is moving toward corner of truth that propaganda only last for a while haha

  24. Oh no China is down to 6.7% GDP growth. Trump brags about the USA being up to 4.1%. Boy is China in trouble they can only drop another 2.6% before they have the same growth rate as the USA. They have been moving away from trade with the USA and are expanding into the rest of Asia and Africa all Trump has done is speed up this plan. USA's international influence is fading daily as China's is growing. This is what scares the American's they can see their future will be second place at best.

  25. The welfare of the American nation is far more important than the welfare of a handful of self-serving American corporations.

  26. THANKS & GOD BLESSED MR. TRUMP; WHO STANDS UP FOR THE FREE WORLD… ALL THE COMMUNISTS, ESPECIALLY CHINA COMMUNIST PIGS WERE CHEATING, STEALING, AND SUPPORTING THE RED DEVILS COMMUNISTS!!!

  27. If we buy too much of foreign products, what will happen to American industry and the ability of American workers to buy foreign products?

  28. China economy is built on fake and deception.Trump expose it all.As a Chinese who suffered badly under that extremely brutal regimes for decades , Trump has made my day.

  29. For those who are evil will be destroyed by US
President Trump and the world's should call for a total economic boycott of red evil China for good
"We must take strong defensive actions to protect America's leadership in technology and innovation against the unprecedented threat posed by China's theft of our intellectual property, the forced transfer of American technology and its cyber attacks on our computer networks,"
"These tariffs are essential to preventing further unfair transfers of American technology and intellectual property to red China,"

  30. To better inform the dumbed down Fox viewers : US trade war has little impact on Chinese growth, says Asian Development Bank
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpI4cD49jXY

  31. i think this "trade war" will end in a stalemate China doesn't have to win it only has to make sure it doesn't lose
