The business of Canadian trade missions Do you know what it’s like to be part of a Canadian trade mission? Let the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service take you to Seoul, South Korea, for a behind-the-scenes look into what a trade trade mission is all about, and how the Trade Commissioner Service can help companies navigate the complexities of international business. Canada and Korea have just implemented a free trade agreement – an historic agreement for Canada seeing as this is our first trade agreement with Asia. So we very pleased to be welcoming a trade mission of over 100 delegates on it. So on a trade mission we offer various elements to help you make the most of your visit to the market. Typically, a trade mission will have business briefings, sector briefings, site visits, and networking events so you will have the opportunity meet key local, business and government contacts. That’s what the Trade Commissioner Service does best. We introduce you to key contacts to help you be successful in this market. Trade missions are important because it gives us the opportunity to meet with new customers, as well develop our relationship with existing customers and partners. Also, trade missions are a great opportunity to network, as well as to share experiences with other Canadian companies about our successes and challenges in a specific market. Trade mission participants have the opportunity to meet key local government and business decision makers and they get the chance to learn about how to do business in the host country. The most important aspect is to give you the opportunity to initiate, develop and continue making business deals. And we are not doing this by ourselves. We are working together with other key partners like Export Development Canada, the Canadian Commercial Corporation and the Business Development Bank of Canada, to help you be successful. We use trade missions, not just to meet and network with existing customers and partners, but also to diversify our business into the private sector as well as public sector and find new customers that we can be doing business with in those countries where we have potentially never done business.
